ABOUT US

My name is Zachary Heacox, and I am the founder of Cards for a Cause. My inspiration for founding Cards for a Cause comes from my own experiences, more than anything else, my past experiences at the UW Children’s Hospital. About two years ago, I encountered medical complications with my kidney. The UW Children’s Hospital in Madison is currently treating me. After many tests, last year, I underwent surgery to resolve some of the problems. Following my surgery, I went to follow-up appointments, where I saw very sick children in the waiting rooms. I vividly remember watching a young boy with cancer, who was about ten years old, making crafts with one of the volunteers at the hospital. This instance made an immense impact on me and is one of the main reasons I started making cards for sick or injured children; in order to help children that are less fortunate than me and seduce their pain.

Similarly, my volunteer experience at Mercy hospital has influenced my life in a way that I never imagined. I like volunteering at Mercy, knowing that I can help bring ease to people. I most recently helped create Christmas and Valentine’s Day cards for the patients and staff to brighten their days. This opportunity also inspired me to found Cards for a Cause. It was eye-opening to realize that doing even small things can have a significant impact on others.

I am passionate about helping others and making a difference in their lives. I want to play some part in helping people, communities, and positively affect their lives as a result. Making cards allows me to do so; it is gratifying to help children and make a difference in their lives. I sincerely like to donate time to the community and make a difference to the people around me. I hope this inspires you to help children in need.

If you’re wondering how to help children in need – please know that every little bit counts. We can’t do it without you. Your generosity means the world in the life of a child, volunteer today by making cards for children in need.
